Birth date ranges for the Fall 2009 age groups
Under-10: 8-1-99 to 7-31-01 Under-12: 8-1-97 to 7-31-99
Under-14: 8-1-95 to 7-31-97 Under-16: 8-1-93 to 7-31-95
These tryouts are for players who wish to play in the fall. The teams formed will play at the competitive class III level. There will be a mixture of local and travelling games scheduled.
A limited number of spaces for boys who wish to play either in the under 10, 12, 14 and under 16 age level are available.

The Mersey soccer club offers a competitive level of soccer that matches the needs of the multi tasking kids of the Berkeley community. Class III soccer is ideal for players who want to challenge their athletic abilities and still have time to attend to other priorities
Class III soccer has 4 divisions , gold. silver bronze and copper. There is ample opportunity for motivated youngsters to sharpen their skills in one of these leagues.
The Mersey Soccer Club's coaches are soccer enthusiasts who have played on competitive teams either here or abroad. They are keen to share their insights on how best to play soccer with eager students.

The Mersey Soccer Club situated in Berkeley was founded in 1985. The aim of the club is, by providing the best coaches, to create the best soccer program for kids in our community.
This is the one time in the year when we host open tryouts for kids who may wish to be a part of the Mersey Soccer Club. We will have a limited number of spaces available for our boys competitive teams. We would like to invite serious players who wish to be a part of the Mersey organization to tryout for these teams.

There are two tryout dates for each age range
under 10

1) Sunday March 22nd 1:00 -2:30pm 2) Thursday April 16th 5:00-6:30
Under 11 Mersey Raiders team that will play in the fall season is coached by Arsenal fan Isaiah Schwerin. His infectious enthusiasm has been an inspiration. The team plays soccer year round. Consequently they have achieved a highly successful record in league and tournament play .
Under 12 Mersey Fire is about to embark on its second season at the class III level
its Mexican coach Sergio Fernand the team found it was time develop its levels of physical fitness. Sergios experience of coaching at the highschool level proved to be essential as he led the team to a dramatic improvement in physical fitness and mental toughness.

1) Sunday March 22nd 3:00 - 4:30pm 2) Wednesday April 15th 5:30-7:00
Under 14 boys are coached by league veteran Jim Lindsay. Jim is a past league president and a head referee. During the winter season he coaches the El Cerrito high team. Over his 11 seasons at Mersey Jim's teams have consistently earned the medals.
under 16 boys
1) Monday March 23rd 5:30- 7:00 2) Wednesday April 15th 5:30-7:00
Under 16 boys have been together for 8 years. Encouraged by coach Josh through the winning and the losing these boys have gained skills but more importantly they have learned to have fun while they play soccer. This years accomplishments of the Mersey Raiders include reaching the final of the Presidents cup tournament and the winter league playoff final at the Bladium club of Alameda
